Wednesday Morning - The 46 mile ride from Rome to Bremen is mostly flat until mile 26. From mile 32 to 47 (Bremen) I am at an elevation of 1,200 to 1,400 feet. Compare that to Lookout Mountain and Signal Mountain which are 1,700 to 1,900 feet in elevation. This picture of Bill is from the eighties and shows the view near Bremen GA. Bremen Georgia is actually 105 feet higher in elevation than Gatlinburg TN.

As you can see on the elevation chart below, the terrain at 26 passes 1,000 ft and continues to slowly climb to 1,350 feet by the time I reach Bremen.. Cedartown - at mile 19 - is the best place for lunch and water before I tackle the mountains ahead. From Cedartown on, it's mostly rural and mountainous until I reach the outskirts of Bremen. For the day, I'll gain 691 feet of elevation - most of it from mile 26 on. I plan to stay at Microtel by Wyndham (770) 537-8000. There is a Walmart Supercenter at mile 43.7. Need to stock up on snacks for tomorrows ride at the Walmart. Walking distance to Cracker Barrel and McDonald's. Also an Ingles Supermarket is at this same exit.
